From West to EastTire treads, fabric screen, McDonald cups
↓ Artist Statement
I use the tire treads I found on the highway as material to interweave our relationship between moving and stopping. From the west to the east, the shadow of the American Terrain Profile on the fabric screen indicates the mountain and canyon, the plateau and river, the rise and fall. The McDonald cups work as a pair of telephones, one side behind the screen keeps playing the audio we might encounter while we are driving: road rage, accident, cross wind or just regular radio wave. They require your absolute attention or involvement, they can also mean nothing. Like the pair of telephone set, you won’t hear anything, unless you pick it up.
